In the foreground on the left, just below the footbridge from which the photo was taken is the Hotel Santa Marta bus stop. You stop at this bus stop when you are travelling from Marbella to Estepona on the A7/CN 340 highway. Completely by chance on the right of the picture I caught the Portillo bus from Estepona to Marbella, pulling in to the Hotel Santa Marta bus stop on the other side of the road. You can see the indentation of the bus stop on the very right of the picture. Hotel Santa Marta closed down many years ago and is all closed up but the name of the bus stop lives on.
In the background you can see La Concha which is the mountain behind Marbella. The pink buildings on the left are Bena Vista Commercial Centre and the shopping and restaurant complex is packed full of great bars, supermarkets with everything for the holidaymaker and residents alike. Live music bars are on the first floor along with other restaurants, shops and offices. Just behind the Bena Vista Commercial Centre is the Bena Vista holiday apartments resort. There is easy access from the Bena Vista apartments through the galleries to the shopping centre .
Here is the bowling green with children's playground just at the end of the Bena Vista Commercial Centre. The picture is taken from the end of the same pedestrian footbridge which connects the two Hotel Santa Marta bus stops. There are footbridges all the way along the CN 340. Use them always and never try to take a short cut across this deadly highway however hot you may be.
Here is a look at part of the Bena Vista holiday apartments taken from just behind the Bena Vista Commercial cente. It is a lovely old treed urbanisation built on multi levels with greeen established gardens and quiet roads. Ideal for holiday makers with the shops and amenities so close. Just inland and easy walking distance from Bena Vista complex is the Hotel Paraiso with everything that a top tourist resort hotel can offer, evening shows, a great golf course, sports facilities, top restaurants, children's entertainment and lounges and bars for mums and dads.
This is the Hotel Santa Marta beach in the Estepona municipal district. To get here, cross the footbridge above towards the sea. At the bottom of the steps turn left and about 50 metres along is a sign post Playa Hotel Santa Marta. Follow the road down about 500 metres to get to the beach. You can just see chiringuito (beach bar) about 400metres along the beach towards Estepona. Chiringuitos are great places to eat and hang out during the day and evening, listen to music and sip cool drinks in the heat of the day. Remember to take your umbrellas down to the beach and always have someone to watch over your bags and valuables whilst you are in the sea. While I was holding the camera trying to decide on the best angle, a motorised para glider flew over and went on down the coast following the shoreline.
