Information on the Sierra Nevada

The Sierra Nevada Mountains, sheltering the ancient town of Granada, are home to Europe’s most southerly ski resort. Only a two hour drive from Marbella, the resort has played host to the World Ski Championships and many other National and International Ski and Snowboard competitions.

With a total of 94.8km of pistes comprising 16 green runs, 36 blue, 42 red and nine black runs, the Sierra Nevada offers superb skiing and snowboarding for all levels. Serving the many runs are 27 ski lifts carrying more than 43,000 skiers per hour.

For families with children, the resort offers a snow-garden and crèche and at the Mirlo blanco Activitiy zone, kids are kept busy for hours tobogganing, inner-tubing, ice-skating or roller-sledding.

For riders, in addition to the many pistes and off-piste action, the mountains are home to a half-pipe, a mini-park and a dizzying collection of jumps and rails.
In the event of light snow-fall, the resort also boasts one of the most high-tech and sophisticated snow making systems in the world.

Whatever your level of skiing or snowboarding, the resort offers excellent tuition. Individual ski lessons, group lessons and guiding are all available from fully qualified English speaking staff.

The Sierra Nevada offers accommodation to suit all budgets – five star hotels and spas, family hotels, budget hostals, self catering chalets and apartments for rent, and long term rentals are all readily available in the Sierra Nevada.
