The Fuengirola bus station is really just bus stop with a ticket office on a street corner but it is a important connection point on the Costa del Sol. If you look at the picture below you can just see the buses on the street corner next to the Fuengirola bus station on the left and exactly one block away on your right is the Fuengirola train station under the red sign. When you come out of the train station walk towards the sea and you’ll be at the bus station in minutes. Not at all far to pull your suitcase! If you are taking a taxi on from the bus or train station you find a taxis at the rank outside the Fuengirola train station on the right and over the road from the buses.
Fuengirola Bus Station
If you plan to travel by train from Malaga airport to an address between Fuengirola and Marbella then catch a bus for the last stretch. In winter when there are less airport buses to Marbella I have sometimes taken the train from Malaga airport to Fuengirola train station and caught the next bus from Fuengirola bus station to Marbella bus station.
Simon asked me: “Do you know if either Fuengirola bus or train station has somewhere where I can store luggage? I get there late this Friday and need to store it overnight.” I told Simon that yes, there are left luggage lockers at the bus station. Simon would need to arrive before the office part of the bus station closes at 9.30pm and also check that a key for a free left luggage locker is available. There are only 12 lockers. Unfortunately the Fuengirola train station does not have any left luggage lockers.
Did you know that if you are travelling from Fuengirola to Faro on the Algarve in Portugal the Fuengirola bus station is the starting point for the journey? Your bus to the Algarve travels to Malaga bus station and then swings inland to Sevilla, stopping at the Plaza de Armas bus station before heading west towards Portugal. I’ll be adding a list of bus stops between Fuengirola and Marbella shortly but in the meantime please feel free to contact me on the Gomarbella Facebook page or on any of the blogs.
