A Gomarbella visitor wrote in on the Gomarbella Facebook page: “Hi, we are arriving in Malaga on 10th October and staying in La Carihuela for 3 nights. I believe the annual Fuengirola Internationl Feria takes place early in October. Being huge fans of flamenco we would welcome information about the Fuengirola feria as I am sure there must be plenty of things including flamenco going on.”
I wrote back to say: “Yes, you are looking for the Fuengirola feria, it fits the dates you mentioned. The day starts at 1pm but any time between 2 to 6 is a good time to visit and for the evening action any time from 9pm through to the early hours the next day. You’ll find flamenco every night in the casetas.
There’s a great atmosphere with lots of music, processesions and delicious international street food. You might just want to put on your national dress and join more than 30 other countries sampling their music, food and dances. Check out the USA pavilion and watch the Costa del Sol line dancers in action.
For visitors from further up the coast towards Malaga you’ll want to know that it takes place in the Recinto Ferial. That’s a 10 minute walk from either the Fuengirola train station or the Los Boliches train stop.
