Malaga bus station and the Maria Zambrano train station in Malaga are side by side. This makes them one of the most convenient and practical transport interchanges in Andalucia.
Malaga bus station is connected with Malaga airport by bus every 30 minutes. There are trains every twenty minutes on the C1 (Cercanias) line which runs from Malaga train station to Fuengirola train station with the Malaga airport train stop only eight minutes down the line.
My suggestion is that if you are already at Malaga train station and travelling to destinations before Fuengirola and near the train line use the C1 train to Fuengirola train station. If you are at the bus station heading to a nearby intermediate destinations which are near the coastline take the bus. Simply get your bus ticket at the Malaga bus station ticket office. Of course if you are alread at the bus station and heading to Fuengirola bus station with luggage, just get on the bus!
For longer distance destinations if you are heading west beyond Fuengirola to Marbella bus station, San Pedro de Alcantará, Estepona, La Linea bus station (for Gibraltar) or Algeciras and Cádiz book your ticket online and take the bus from Malaga bus station.
Heading east towards Nerja, Motril and Almeria, again take the bus and book online.
Heading north and inland. from Malaga bus station towards Córdoba, Granada, Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona and across to the Algarve including Faro and as far north as Lisbon and Porto? Book well in advance online using the Gomarbella online booking engine to consult timetables and make plans. Don’t hang around around the different ticket offices, book in advance. Have your ticket in your hand or on your phone.
Malaga Bus Station Left Luggage The bus station has a small left luggage locker department at one end of the station. If the lockers are full, walk across the road to the Maria Zambrano train station and use the left luggage facilities downstairs next to the C1 Cercanias train ticket barriers.
