Terry wrote to me on Facebook: “Hello there, I’m in Portugal from 13th till 20th July and I’m just wondering how do I get to from the Algarve to the Costa del Sol in the south of Spain,  thank you. I’d like to travel from Faro to Fuengirola by bus.

I wrote back: “Hi Terry, thanks for writing in. It’s very easy actually. You take the midnight bus out of Faro which travels through Sevilla, stopping in the early hours of the morning in Sevilla before taking the inland route to Malaga, stopping at Malaga bus station and then travelling down Costa del Sol through Torremolinos and stopping at the Fuengirola bus station which is the end of the route. Book your ticket from Faro to Fuengirola on the Gomarbella online bus ticket reservations and booking page here.

When you book the whole trip online from Faro to Fuengirola by bus using the Gomarbella online reservations system  you’ll see the exact timetable and the fare for the journey. Select INTERNATIONAL then put in Portugal and Spain for the countries of Origin and Destination. Then enter Faro and Fuengirola as your towns. Select the date. Remember leaving after midnight actually means at 01.45 in the morning on the next day so be careful with your dates!

I hope this sounds OK to you Terry, I love the Algarve and go there at least twice a year. We stay about 17 kms inland from Faro at Rocha de Gralheiro or Jack’s as we call it. Best wishes from Marbella,  Mike.”

  1. Thank you very much for your suggestion Irene. I agree with you, the timings for the journey from Faro to San Pedro are much more friendly. Although we go twice a year at least to the Algarve by car,I still have a desire to do the bus journey. Do you live on the Algarve Irene?

  2. I do a similar journey to/from Faro to San Pedro de Alcantara and the service via Ronda has much better dep/arr times. One change at Seville, however – enough time for snack/walk. The bus continues from SP to Marbella, where there are connections east and west on the coast and inland. Just another suggestion…..
